NYFW - Chromat Diversity

Have you guys had a chance to follow NYFW?
I just started a new job and have been busy, but I am keeping up with the official NYFW and Vogue Runway apps.
I want to finish this post before I watch the Ralph Lauren runway show, I just got an alert.

Anyway, I loved Chromat's show last week. I loved seeing models of different backgrounds, ages, and body shapes. What a beautiful sight!
And what I love the most is seeing that our vision is changing and we are including everyone now, giving the younger generation hope. We are finally showing them that they are accepted and can be successful no matter what they look like.

We are all beautiful in somebody's eyes, but being accepting of ourselves is what matters. Do not compare yourself with everybody else or you will be unhappy, just learn to accept yourself and understand that you have qualities that make you unique. I wish I had learnt this when I was younger and bullied for being too thin. It caused me a lot of insecurity and shame that followed me into bad relationships. both romantic and non-romantic.

I was blown away by this show. I do not find any woman more attractive than the other or others. They are all stunning. As are you!

Much love,

Fall, Fall, Fall!

Ten days!

I wanted to share a few of my favorite sweater picks this season. That Gucci sweater is so beautiful.... And so expensive! Even if I had the money to, I probably would not pay so much for that beautiful sweater. Especially with what is going on around the world.
However, I think we can get creative and make any sweater a dream sweater.
How? Add lace, charms, whatever inspires you.

Red is in this season and this beautiful v-neck that can be worn with anything. Something that comes to mind is a polka dots white and black blouse underneath it, and black pants. Another idea would be a white shirt with nay blue stripes and tailored dark blue jeans. What do you think?

Now, the Burberry Prorsum sweater is my favorite. As a dog lover, I would wear that every other weekend!

All these are for sale at bit.ly/2vkgNDh Check them out!

Fashion Week

Stuart Weitzman

Public Desire

Franco Sarto

Sock boots are trending this season. My favorite way to wear them is with shirt dresses and skirts, I do not always follow trends unless they fit my style.
I am particularly excited about this one because I can go from casual to business to partying, unlike the over-the-knees, which I love, but I do not feel are appropriate for the office.
Not appropriate unless we work in a cubicle for a fashion magazine or a style branch of some kind,  of course. Or better yet, a designer.
I love the red ones above, red is the it color this season, and my favorite. I would definitely wear those to the Beaufille NYFW show!

Do you love the trend? What are your thoughts?

Much love,

Hello September!

It's September!
Which means it's boots weather, so exciting!
Its still warm out, so I thought I'd wear some denim and these cute boots by Nine West.
I am seeing some fun styles out there, like the sock-bootie, and the flat over-the-knee.

I went shopping for boots at the Cherry Creek Mall in Denver, CO and one of the store associates told me that my calves were too thin and it was going to be hard for me to find boots.... Nope. Not at all.
I wear pants size 0 and 2 depending on the brand, and my calves are proportionate with the rest of my body. Thankfully, I am no longer 17 and insecure, I did not let that stop me from finding what I was looking for, so I have a few styles I love this fall/winter.

Sometimes you have got to let stuff roll of your back and ignore unwelcome comments. Go for what you love and live!

Should I mention the name of the store??? Nah.....

Please show me your cowgirl side!

Much love,

One Day Closer to Fall

 Hillbilly Jeans, 1973

Kenyon Coats and Suits, ca. 1918
Interwoven Socks, 1972

Eiderlon Panties, 1978

Collier's Magazine, 1909

Prefall is here and I am ready to start sharing ideas and looks again. I am excited to see the looks my fellow bloggers are going to share. I'm anxiously looking forward to it!

Truth be told, the heat and I are not good friends. I love fall and winter and I think winter clothes are much prettier. That is why I am always very excited and looking forward to the September issue of my favorite fashion magazines.

However, lately every year has been more disappointing then the previous. What is up with all the ads?!

Don't get me wrong, I love the pictures and all, and I get the business perspective of having all those ads, but there has to be a line where ads do not outweigh the actual content of the magazine. It feels like the issues are mostly about ads now and less about fashion articles. Another thing I particularly would love to see is more affordable items next to the designer ones, so we can mix and get inspired realistically.

I think magazines should level more with their readers and think of every young woman who is searching for their own style without breaking the bank, not encourage them to in-debt themselves thinking they only fit in by wearing what they are shown.

What do you guys think? Any thoughts on that?

You Make the Outfit. The Outfit Does Not Make You.

Over the weekend, we went to the Vintage Days Fair in Long Grove, IL. I came across a booth that had very interesting and unique vintage jewelry. I wanted to buy everything from this lady!

These are the ones I ended up bringing home.

The season for brooches is coming up and pearls are always classy. These yellow ones stood out to me as soon as I scanned those tables. You can wear those with anything and stand out.
What about those lion earrings "nobody would want," as the owner of the booth said. Cute, right?!

Vintage fashion is not necessarily trendy, but always remember, it does not matter what you wear. You make the outfit. The outfit does not make you!

If you like these, you can go treasure hunting at www.daysgonebuyjewerly.com  or diane@daysgonebuyjewerly.com and Diane will take care of you!

Gucci Coat
If you are like me, you are always looking for good rices online. When I came across The RealReal I was not sure if some of the things listed there were genuine, but they are!

Fashion comes and goes, but style is yours. I was a single mom for a long time and I did my best to stay true to my style while not overspending. I did not know about this place. Then I got married, but we are on a budget, and The RealReal came along. Now I can mix my vintage items with some loved pieces by my favorite designers!

At The RealReal, everything is at your reach!
Check them out at bit.ly/2vkgNDh and sign up for a $25 credit towards your first purchase.
Another cool thing about them is that you can consign designer items you no longer wear. Very easy to do!

My Girly Obsession - Bows

Since I was a little girl, I have been obsessed with bows.
Even going through my tomboy phase (8-11 years old), I still loved girly details, especially bows.
In my hair, on my shoes, my dress... anywhere I could attach a bow, there it was.
That has not changed a bit.

As soon as I walk into a clothing or accessories store, I am drawn like a magnet to the very feminine, unique things they have. Pussybow blouses look great at any age, but how old is too old to wear bows and ribbons in your hair?!
I am in my early 40s and I am still wearing them. Any thoughts?

All these looks are from The Real Real at bit.ly/2vkgNDh

Designing for the Future: Trends we need to consider now

Fashion is always changing and recycling, but what do we think the future of designing is?

Technology is forever evolving, thankfully. In this fast-paced world, we barely have time for anything because the days are not long enough. Technology is God-sent. With 3D printers and computerized sewing machines, we can create almost anything our imagination desires. Anything you envision, you can make.

Sewing machines now have software that can be purchased to make our designs a quick and fun reality. It is not like it was in the days when my grandmother was a seamstress and had to pedal all day long, manually sewing everything with her hands to make a single outfit!
These sewing machines can do anything from embroidery to monogramming. You can sew garments and craft works. We also have handheld sewing machines.

Another fascination of mine is 3D printers. I can accessorize my designs and creations with fun jewelry, custom or fine jewelry. Save time and embody your vision with these two fantastic tools. These two are just about all you will need to get started in your fashion business. You can make ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you want.

I have always loved fashion, and now in my early forties, I feel that the time is right for me to start creating what I have envisioned for years. I love feminine things. Lace and embroidery are among my favorites. I dream of giant bows and feminine, ruffle sleeves, lace and pearls and shiny, classy things.

With computerized sewing machines and 3D printers, I can now make my dreams come true, and so can you!

I AM a fashion designer.  What is your calling? What do you dream about?

Much love,

It is not secret that red is my favorite color.
I am working on a line of scarves because of my love for them.... Scarves and pearls.
Another thing I really love is pussybows. That love inspired me to design this dress a few months back. So much we can do with this style!
A belt, no belt, heels, no heels... Whatever you feel like wearing with this dress, you can. However, the centerpiece is that giant and lovely pussybow!
What do you guys think?! Any suggestions?
